The short version:

$: Average chain restaurant pricing. Won't break the bank (generally under $15/entree)

$$: Mid-priced meal, step above a chain restaurant (generally $15-25/entree)

$$$: A place you would go for a special occasion ($25-50/entree)

$$$$: Bigger celebrations, once/twice a year meals (over $50/entree)
